only one bar is green and it says that limewire has detected a firewall. I have checked the firewall on both my computer and norton antivirus program to make sure it still allowed it and I even deleted it and readded it to both. Also downloaded the newest version, 4.14.8, to see if that would help but it didn't. It always says that im currently connecting to the network but it never does. LW worked completey fine for many months and then all of a sudden a week or two ago it stopped. Please help! Its so frusturating and time consuming Im almost ready to start looking for another file sharing program!

If you have upgraded your limewire you have to reconfigure nortons firewall -- have a look at this link (Limewire & Norton Internet Security 2007 )

I also use Avast... AND Prevx2.0, at the same time... But that is only because of the way Prevx2.0 works. (See below). There is nothing that you really need to do with Avast except ADD things you wish to block. Avast is very amenable with p2p apps.
Do NOT use the Windows firewall. Never. ESPECIALLY when using ANY other program that includes a software firewall. That may be part of your problem. With the exception of my comments above re: Avast and Prevx2.0 running concurrently, you should never ever ever run more than one anti-virus/internet security program. Never.

btw, I note that no one has asked you if you have recently updated or fresh installed Limewire.
If you have, than the problems are 99.99999999999999999999% the fault of Limewire. There are very big problems now with LW.
