Very Confusing Please Help....

I have been without Limewire for 2 months now due to being stuck at 1 green bar and a firewall symbol.
But on saturday (April 26) my Limewire connected with a full green bar but still had the firewall symbol.
I logged on again on Sunday to then find that my Limewire is back to square one!!! One green bar and a firewall.
All my firewalls are allowing Limewire but the point being is why has it connected for one day and not anymore??? There cant be any problems with my computer as it connected. Please help it will be much appreciated. :xeri_ok1ani:

Hi Babealicouse In Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- some people always have the firewall symbol showing without any problems --- if yr problem still remains click on (system details) and fill in as much as you can and post back here

I seem to be having the same problem. Over the past few weeks, Limewire has been sporadically not connecting on me, and yesterday and today it will not connect at all. Why would it connect some times and not others? Here's what confuses me even more. I have a second computer which runs XP (the one I'm experiencing problems on uses Vista). The XP machine, which has Norton installed, connects just fine. My Vista machine, with McAfee installed, is the one having the sporadic problems. The two computers share the same internet connection through a wireless router.

I am really at wits end here. I have tried every fix in that link. I have disabled McAfee's firewall, uninstalled the Firewall, closed down McAfee altogether, kept Windows firewall off, installed the latest version of Limewire, and still won't connect!!

Here are my system details:

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) If using Windows Vista, please tell us whether you have an Administrator user account.

Vista, with an administrator account
2. What firewalls you have?

Windows firewall, McAfee, both turned off

3. How much ram?

2 GB

4. Hard Disk space available?

7 GB

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)

Broadband

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?

2Wire Gateway wireless router

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?

Home (apt)

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

Limewire 4.16.7

9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)?

AT&T

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

'Your test worked'

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.

Sharing another connection with an XP machine through router

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

New problem with experienced user

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ click here to see Sample image

Yes, but that's always been there when I was able to connect

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?

Tried both. Back to UPnP enabled.

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall :)

McAfee

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland).

USA

good to see it's working again -- the only reason I can see for this behaviour is if your ISP is blocking or shaping P2P -- see this link (AT&T, P2P Filtering)
