All to familiar Connection issues !!!! Hi I have recently noticed that whenever I open Limewire it never properly connects, but instead stays on 1 bar. I have tried everything; changed port, reinstalled Limwire, updated java, testing my firewall but nothing changes. Here are the details you require: 1. OS version? Vista (Admin) 2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall + Norton Internet Firewall 2008 + I also have one for my Router. 3. How much ram? 1gb 4. Hard Disk space available? 3.29gb/120gb 5. Connection type? Broadband via a router. 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Thompson Speed Touch 5x6 (0718BH97E) 7. Where are you trying to connect from Home. 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW: 4.16.7, Java: 1.6.0_05. 9. Who is your ISP provider Marvell Yukon. 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It worked. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 1 other computer, using windows xp. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I have had limewire for a long time now and the problem has only just occured. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface. Yes. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? My UPnP is Enabled. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall Nortan Internet Security. 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). Uk (England). Performance Issues: 17. If your problems are more to do with speeds. Then choose nearest location for a speed test & only have your browser open: Speed Test Internet Speed Test DSL Speed Test Broadband Speed Test Bandwidth Speed Test Remember some speed tests quote in kbps or bps (bits per second) whereas LimeWire (LW) uses KB/s or B/s (Bytes per second) in its speed showings. So if the speed is in bps or kbps, then quote the original speed given in the test, followed by the figure divided by 8 which will give Bytes per second. Or just give the original test speed & we can calculate for you. This is the result of the speed test. Download speed: 1,284.90 (160.61) 100% Upload speed: 395.20 (49.40) 100% Surfspeed inside United Kingdom: 301.39 (37.67) 100% Surfspeed average (worldwide): 215.98 (26.99) 100% Surfspeed outside United Kingdom: 134.08 (16.76) 100% Latency: 237 milliseconds Please help, this is obviously quite a substantial problem. Thanks. |
i have clear wire and im not able to connect.. please help me |
marshy samsamwest In Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes ---- samsamwest if yr problem still remains click on (system details) and fill in as much as you can and post back here |
ok I have tried all of those things and it still refuses to connect. I don't know if this is significant but I just realized that the Limewire in the start menu is version 4.14.10, but when I open it and go to 'about Limewire' it says the version is 4.16.7. Just a thought. |

Disable your windows firewall -- is your nortons firewall configured to allow Limewire.exe permission in/out of your computer if not go to this link (Limewire & Norton Internet Security 2007) scroll down to post #3 by shanah16 and follow insttructions -- also is your router/firewall configured to allow LW access. You should only have 1 version of java so check your add/remove programs |
ok I disabled my windows firewall but with no avail, i did configure my norton firewall but there was no change, I recently discovered that my brothers Limewire also refuses to connect and it is on the same network via a router, Is it possible that that could be the problem? I trie4d downloading frostwire, and for about 5 hours it worked, but now a message comes up saying that a firewall (don't know which one), is blocking my connection attempts, or filtering the gnutella port. What is going on with this:blink:? |

oK, I disabled my router firewall and that did not work, I then tried my norton firewall.......and that didn't work, sorry, any other suggestions. Could my ISP be filtering the gnutella port or something? |
