Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network.
(not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

![]() Hello. OK, I have used limewire for years with not to many problems. Recently I had to reload my operating system (windows XP). Now I get the 1 bar thingy and there is a firewall icon on the globe picture. This used to be ok but while trying to trace the problem I have turned off the firewall from windows, removed the anti virus program, removed the wireless router from the system, and I am basically running a wide open computer thru the Motorola cable modem and that’s it. Still get the 1 bar thing. Thanks in advance for the look, and helpJ Leon Geiser. 1. OS version? Windows XP service pack 3 2. What firewalls you have? Should be none, see above 3. How much ram? 512mb 4. Hard Disk space available? Over 30 gig 5. Connection type? cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem only, motorolla 7. Where are you trying to connect from? house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.18.2 / 1.6.0_06 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? brighthouse 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? I get 'Your test worked!' 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? no 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. new problem with an experienced user 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Don’t know 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? took it all off/none 16. What country are you living in? U.S.A.Florida. end. |

![]() Hi Leongeiser I suggest you enable your firewall and antivirus software otherwise you could have more problems than just connecting to LW -- Ensure that your firewall is configured to allow LW full access. See this link (Adding an exception for the Limewire program) --- In Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- if still no good click on (Fixes for LW when LW isn't operating as it should) let us know how you get on
