![]() I got a Macbook a couple days ago and have not been able to connect using it. I also have a Vista PC connected to the same network behind the same router and Limeworks on it, so I'm assuming it's something wrong with the Macbook. I'm not too proficient with Macs yet, so I don't exactly know what to check to make sure everything's working right. I can't access the site that's listed in the FAQ on neither my Macbook nor my Vista PC, but again, Limeworks on the Vista PC. I have Limewire 4.18 on the Macbook and Limewire 4.12 on the PC, but I don't think the version could have a difference. Oh and I do see a brick wall in front of the world icon, but I also see that on the Vista PC. Basically, as far as I know, the Macbook is set up the exact same way as the PC, but Limewire won't work on the Mac. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! |

![]() Cannot use same connection or listening ports for same program. The router will reserve a port for each program on a single computer let alone two computers. Let's find our why your are behind a firewall on either computer: System details - help us to help you (click on blue link) for pc first since that's the one that seems to always have had firewall issues. |

![]() I'm behind a firewall because I'm behind a router. The PC hasn't had any issues with Limewire, it works on it. The Macbook is the one I'm having issues with. 1. OS version? Mac OSX 10.5.4 2. What firewalls you have? None software, but I am behind a router. 3. How much ram? 2 gigs 4. Hard Disk space available? 115 gigs 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Modem is a Scientific Atlanta, router is a Belkin F5D7230-4 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? Home 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Limewire Pro 4.18.3, Java 1.5.0_13 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Comcast 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Doesn't Work 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Yes, a wireless router has a Vista PC connected to it by ethernet and 2 laptops, one an XP and one a Macbook, by wireless. Limewire works on the Vista PC, isn't installed on the XP laptop, and won't work on the Macbook 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Not my first try, I've been using Limewire for a while, but it is my first time using it on a Mac. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? I've tried both and neither method works. On my PC though, I'm using UPnP. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? None 16. What country are you living in? USA |

![]() Just because you're using a router doesn't mean you need to be firewalled. If your router doesn't have UPnP or reliable UPnp which means a program can request it to open a listening port for it whilst the program is open, then the best thing to do is port forward it. ![]() Did you do a static ip before you created the port forward rule for your router? If not before, the process won't work & would need to be cancelled & done again. And since NAT is based on ip, the ip of the 2nd computer would be used for the port forward rule for that one. Remember each computer will need a separate different port. Setting up a Static ip PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall |

![]() OK, I'm a bit confused. I have Limewire on my Mac set up to use port 50,000 and I've forwarded that port on my router. I'm pretty sure that my router has reliable UPnP though, because I didn't forward the ports that Limewire uses to connect on my Vista PC, and it works on it. I only forwarded port 50,000 because on the Limewire wiki it said to use a port between 10,000 and 60,000 so I chose that. I'm not exactly sure about the static IP, the IP that my Mac has was the one that was assigned to it by the router. What exactly should I do? |
