Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network. (not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

Default Limewire won't connect

Before, it would SOMETIMES connect and I could download one sing at a time at snail pace. Now, nothing.

1. OS version? XP
2. What firewalls you have? windows And AVG
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Clearwire
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? house
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? limewire 4.18.8
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Clearwire
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: your test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? no
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. new problem
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? AVG

16. What country are you living in? USA

17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? No.

You could give Port Forwarding a try, but it still may not help...

Have a look under your modem/router you will see the make and model number for it, if you could supply these details I will see if there are any instructions available for you....

I have a similar problem with limewire 4.18. It used to load first at lightning speed but now it just launches but never seems to increase in the connection bar. I really miss using limewire and I need assistance as to what configuration I need to make. My operating system is win xp sp2.

Try this link (Connection troubleshooting) if this doesn't help you
In Limewire Links (below) click on (If LW will not connect) and go through these fixes -- if still no good click on (system details) fill in and post back here

LW links are changed at times to match the current problems.

I tried those instructions and now limewire seems to be operating. The connections tends to fade now and then but I guess that is as a result of internet traffic use.Thank you very much skyliner.
