Default Vonage phone router connectivity issues

Hey all,

I noticed that LW gets stuck on 'starting connection" since I upgraded my Vonage router to the Motorola VDV-21 VD router. Vonage talked me through setting the security leevls via their web-based app, but I still can't consistently connect. Wimdows firewall has been both on and off, no dice. I tried manually forwarding the ports to those listed for LW's defaults, again nothing. Any ideas?

New model Motorola I guess. So are you using one or two routers? To port forward there's a few steps & the most important one is setting up a Static ip as the very first step. Without doing that the process will not work & you'd need to start from scratch with the process: Static ip instructions

Find a similar looking motorola model here: PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall. Don't forget to put in the start & finish port numbers. Reciprocate the same port number for LW's settings.

Also keep in mind with 'some' brands or models of routers, after you port forward, you need to reboot the router & computer to properly save the change & get it into action.

Security levels may be playing a part. I've seen where lowering it helped get others connected for their particular firewall or router.
