Make sure your Windows firewall is turned off. Do you see a brick wall at bottom of LW's interface? Norton & Windows firewalls cannot run together, they clash & cause problems including 'less' security, not more.

yes it shows a brick wall infront of a globe. How would i turn this off for LW with out leaving my whole computer at risk?

my windows firewall is off however the brickwall is still there. Is this norton 360's firewall? I believe i had norton allow LW how would i check this?

I actually had the same problem on a vista machine and I had no firewall to begin with. And I'm not using Norton. :/ It just seems to be a really long wait time to connect for me. Not sure if that would help any.
