Intermittent connection

Hi

I'm new here so please excuse me if I don't explain very well

I am on XP using Limeware Pro 4.18.8

I find that I can only connect on a Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday until 6pm ish and at other times just get the "starting connection" message. When I manage to connect I do get a Turbo and can download at up to 120. I live in England

What do I need to do?

Dave

Hi Dave,
I thought as much when I saw your 1st post of this thread -- your problem is your ISP TISCALI - they are known to throttle P2P see this link for ISP's known to Block P2p or specifically Limewire.

Have a look at this link I have found a solution to getting Limewire to work with Tiscali

Are you using the paid version of AVG -- if so good this includes a firewall -- if not you have no firewall -- if you have a firewall please enable it.

Hi Skyliner

followed the link but it said to use the 3rd box down to identify open ports - my screen did not have any boxes. Guess they have changed the page layout - stuck again!

Dave sorry I didnt read your system details properly -- your ISP is not blocking you as your test worked -- I think they might be letting you connect when its out of peak times only --- have you rung your ISP and asked them -- but whether they tell you the truth is another thing.
