LimeWire 2009 is a Scam version. Known Scam Sites (click on link). You occasionally see LimeWire2009 advertised at top of these forums or usually on google search pages. O.o

Only get the official version from Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

I downloaded the exact same LW and a window popped up with a red x appears saying I have an older version of LW running and that I need to exit old one before continuing with installations(note LW may be runnining your system tray)right click on it and exit Im giving that a try but if that doesnt work then what other options do I have?

I have no idea what changes LimeWire2009 has so it may install a little differently.

Normally for LW to uninstall you go to Start menu -> All Programs -> LW -> Uninstall.

Check within the Programs folder itself, find that directory folder, look inside the LimeWire2009 folder & see if there is an uninstaller inside the program folder. After doing that, check Add/Remove Programs Control panel & see if it's listed. Normally you do not uninstall LW this way but LimeWire2009 might be different.

I'd recommend deleting your LimeWire2009 preferences folder & installing the 'real' LW from scratch, see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html on how to do.

Does your Norton have a firewall? Check for it. This is important because both Norton & Windows firewalls clash. So you should enable one & disable the other 'if' you also have Norton firewall.

1. Setting up an exception for LimeWire in your software firewall (click in link)
