Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Donīt use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. | I have been trying for weeks to solve my connection problems with Limewire. I used to be able to use it before I updated my version, sorry I donīt know which version worked but I have tried downloading and installing lots of versions. I use an ISP via a local area on a mountain, it is quite possible that they have choosen to block limewire as torrents are definately blocked by the ISP. I have tried setting my firewall, changing routing on my router, removing my firewall and a few other things besides but not got anywhere. My details 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) If using Windows Vista, please tell us whether you have an Administrator user account....Window XP home. 2. What firewalls you have? ... windows firewall. I think that is all. 3. How much ram? 896Mb 4. Hard Disk space available? at this moment 219MB, but I have had more. 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ..see above, broadband. 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? (eg: Linksys WRT54Gv4) Linksys..WRT54GL 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? ...home, house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help bar > About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. _ Click to see Sample image... 5.1.2 and Java 1.6.0_10 , but I have tried other versions of limewire *It's very important that you tell us whether you're using LW 5* 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? teletec, espaņa 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? doesnīt work. says it is broken. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. there is more than 1 computer using this router but no p2p sharing programs. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I have used limewire in the past, but an older version and sometime ago. I am not sure exactly when the problem occurred whether it was when I updated or not, as I hadnīt used limewire for a while at that point in time. I think my ISP may be blocking its use. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ click here to see Sample image .no. If you're using LW5, there's no firewall icon. In LW go tools > advanced tools...there you'll see whether you're behind a firewall or not. Click on thumbnail to enlarge the image....it says I am behind a firewall and do not support firewall transfers...clearly a problem, but when I click on the why it replies unknown. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? .I have tried various options on this and not sure if I got it right. 15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall .free AVG and spyware terminator, but with the active shield turned off. 16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). .spain 17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? .ISP is the same. LW version is different but I have tried older versions as well, install and uninstall LW and even tried frostwire. Java updates automatically I think. I have answered all the questions as best I can. If you can help me I would be very grateful. I used to love Limewire. Is it possible that my ISP has blocked this kind of service and that I will no longer be able to download ? Many thanks Anita |

| Looks like Telitec block p2p I can't find any terms & conditions on their site but Google shows things like tellitec internet users feedback : British Expat Discussion Forum Torrevieja forum and discussion board • View topic - TeliTec ? You could try changing ports, it might not make any difference but it's worth a try. In LW tools > options > advanced > super really advanced > firewall. Change LW's listening port to 65000 (or anything in the range of 49152 - 65535) > ok. Allow this new port number through Windows firewall. You could also try port forwarding for your router. The instructions are here: Port Forwarding for the Linksys WRT54GL You'll need to set up a static IP address first: PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within your router setup must all be the same number ![]() Also try connecting at different times of day/night - just in case they're only blocking during peak hours. |

| I would recommend port forwarding also, but choose a 'high' number port as Birdy suggested. Although it's almost the same, portforward.com have not updated their instructions yet, see Manual port forward instructions & sample image for LW 5 location equivalent of the initial instructions they give at their site. I'd have normally suggested doing this last, but doesn't matter. Just make sure you set up a static ip address BEFORE you set the port forward rule on your Linksys WRT54.If the Linksys router's address is 192.168.1.1, then you may wish to make your static ip address for this particular computer as 192.168.1.3 or 192.168.1.5 for example. Just make sure your other computer does not have same ip address on the network, and cannot be same as router. ![]() BTW some software firewalls require a port number for firewall rules excluding a particular program. Make sure you use the same port as the one you port forward. Setting up an exception for LimeWire in your software firewall (click in link) (yes only have one software firewall active. If you use windows firewall then turn off 3rd party one or vice versa.) Last edited by Lord of the Rings; March 19th, 2009 at 04:27 AM. |

| I tried that, and have given it another go, but it doesnīt seem to work. I guess if my ISP is blocking this kind of activity there is nothing I can do apart from talk to them. It seems a shame as there is so much information on the web that I cannot access. Telitec have always blocked torrents and I guess that now you can download torrents through Limewire that is why they have now choosen to block limewire too. |
