I am having trouble connecting to Limewire and am hoping you can help me. I have tried all of the suggestions in the Limewire 5 won't connect thread so I'm posting my system details for further assistance.

Also, I recently had trouble loading Limewire as well and had to uninstall and reinstall both Limewire and Java.

If you're using LW5, there's no firewall icon. In LW go tools > advanced tools...there you'll see whether you're behind a firewall or not.

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled?

15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall

16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland).

17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc?
Yes, recently had to uninstall and reinstall both java and limewire with the offline versions because Limewire wouldn't load all of a sudden one day. Also had to go through and delete preferences folder. And when troubleshooting for the Limewire connection problems, went through and unchecked ultrapeer capabilities to follow trouble shooting steps.

I checked my firewall settings on Windows and my Avast antivirus software and there is a Limewire exception on both. Limewire is still not connecting.

Is there something else I could try?

You could try going back to LW 4 & see if it connects. Lime Wire » Download Out-Of-Date Installers and If LW 4 Will Not Connect (click on the blue link). I do not see anything in your specifics that should prevent you connecting. However there was another recent using with problems connecting who used the same model modem.

Might be worth deleting your LW prefs folder again if you do go back to LW 4.

I tried downloading limewire 4 from the link a few days ago and the download wouldn't work. However, when I started up my limewire today it did connect so I've been able to download. I'm not exactly sure what the problem was but it seems to be fixed.
