Default Unable to connect for more than a year.

I have long been a fan of limewire, my only problem being my dial up connection hindering the speed of downloads until a little more than a year ago. I finally got a cable connection. I enjoyed about two months of speedy downloads until one day where it just stopped working. At that time I was getting the globe behind the wall signal. I went into both my norton firewall settings (active) and the windows firewall settings (not in use) and added limewire as an exception as well as making sure the ports were opened. Still nothing. So basically since then I've tried every once in awhile to see if it would work again. Today I had to completely wipe everything off of my computer for reasons unbeknown to me (ask HP). When reinstalling all my programs, limewire came to mind and I'd really like to get it working.

Help please?

You'll need to post some more details of your setup.

See: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-you-post.html

Then come back here with the answers .

7. Trying to connect from home.
8. Limewire Version 5.1.4 and Java 1.6.0_02
9. We use cable one internet but I use Firefox on this computer.
10. When I attempt this link, it says problem loading page, the website has timed out.
11. i am sharing this connection with a desktop computer however i am unable to connect on that computer either.
12. i would say this is (was) a new problem with a decently experienced user.
13. it says you are a leaf node, you are behind a firewall and do not support firewall transfers
14. I'm not sure how to determine the answer to this question

The person in the 2nd link suggested their problem was their printer. lol So I'm not sure, but does sound like it.

You could try connecting using port numbers between 49152 - 65535 or even port 80.
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> SuperReallyAdvanced -> Firewalls & set to manual port forward; sample image here Manual port forward instructions & sample image. Change both listening & connection ports to be the same.

You might also try a less popular program like Phex for example. If they are blocking certain p2p programs, they might only be doing the popular ones, unless they are blocking p2p bandwidth. Phex is a great program btw, just the interface is not as simplistic as LW is.

You cannot use same connection port for two programs.
First thing to do is set up a static ip address:Static ip address for XP

Then Port Forwarding Limewire on the Motorola SBG 900

Oh in regards to Norton firewall, you need to re-add LW or Phex to it each time you install a new version.

BTW check your internet account online. See if there's any possibility of unblocking ports. The fact you found port 6346 blocked suggests the ISP is responsible for it. You might even need to call them & ask them to unblock certain ports.
