I have been using Limewire for a long time but now I have run into a problem that I cannot seem to find a solution to. We recently go new internet at our apartment and now Limewire will not connect to the internet. I hope someone on here can provide me with some help as I am not really good with technology and computer stuff.

1. OS version? I have Windows Vista with an admin account
2. What firewalls you have? I have the Windows firewall which I have disabled because I have a firewall with my TrendMicro antivrus
3. How much ram? 2GB
4. Hard Disk space available? 20Gb
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? (eg: Linksys WRT54Gv4) Our Modem is a Moterola SURFboard 5100 cable modem and our router is a Linksys WRT110
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? My apartment
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help bar > About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. _ Click to see Sample image

9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Time Warner
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says my test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. My roommates also use the same wireless connection
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I have used Limewire for many years and this is the first time I have had a problem I cant fix
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? _ Like I said I have the windows firewall disabled
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? This is what I am really confused about. UPnP is enabed but I am not sure about the port fowarding
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall I am using TrendMicro Internet Security
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA
17. Has anything in your setup changed recently? Have you updated your version of LW or Java? Have you added any new software or new hardware? Have you updated any software? Have you moved house, changed internet plan or ISP etc etc? Like I said we just got our internet installed at our new apartment.


PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Sounds like your firewall is stopping you from connecting. Try this

Adding An Exception For The LimeWire Program
1. Open the settings of your security program
(usually by right-clicking the system tray icon)
2. Locate a section for adding exceptions for specific programs
3. Add LimeWire as an exception

Hopefully this will get you re-connected otherwise check these

So does that mean since my ISP does not support P2P that no matter what I do I wont be able to connect limewire to the internet?

from what I can tell your ISP is the same as mine (different locality though)...never had any problems with RR at any time....

Try those links I gave you first to see if you can reconnect (If LW 5 Will Not Connect) -- if it still doesnt connect after trying those fixes try connecting at non peak times -- (early hours of the morning etc) let us know how you get on.
