OS X security updates, Java & Awaiting Sources I have been reading all these threads and am getting more frustrated. I have tried everything these threads suggest I was running Limewire great! on 2 machines, one running os X 10.3.5 and one running os X 10.2.8. I was in love with Limewire. Then, I did the Security updates from Apple 2004-09-30; 2004-09-16; 2004-09-07 and Java 1.4.2 Update 2. Since that time all I get is "awaiting sources" I am sharing over 400 files on a fast dsl connection and I cant even download one thing. Please limewire, give us a solution! Please, please, please soon. Any suggestions greatly apprecaited. leonardo16 at excite.com |
ps ps, I tried to download the other version, as the previous author suggests... but for some reason my computer could not open or recognize it. sure hope I can get solution. Many thanks, leo |
leo, this thread is almost a year and a half old! Anyway, sounds like something with the system updates broke your connections, so just do a "safe boot" (restarting and holding down the shift key after the start-up sound) and a Disk Utility "Repair Permissions". Do a regular restart, and that should get your system back up to snuff. Check the OSX firewall (System Preferences>Sharing) to see that it is allowing port 6346, and if necessary, use the LimeWire Preferences "revert to default button." See if that works, and if not, post back. cheers |
awaiting sources Thanks so much for the quick reply. Ha, old thread... I had not even noticed..., but am I the only one experiencing this dillemma? You gave me hope! But alas, I did as you suggested but am still getting the same problem... Do you think I should re-install Limewire again? Run Beta version? I checked the ports- sharing-firewall and added the limewire some time ago... hmmm... maybe this is the problem... maybe I should have just left well enough alone... Not sure what do do next.. Any suggestions will be most graciously accepted. Thanks, Leo |
Hmmm--I'm a bit puzzled (those ideas should have worked). OS X problems like you described are pretty rare. To establish whether your downloads are working decently, try going to a reliable source like http://www.magnetmix.com/index.shtml and download one of their free files. What kinds of speeds do you get? |
