i meant it's something wrong with limewire if it's only t3 or higher files that come up...

i didn't mean this whole conspiracy is limewire's fault

sorry for the misunderstanding

**** Lame Wire

I have a fix which worked for me so I am going to share it.

-Go to Tools
-Click Options
-Expand Filters
-Click Hosts
-In the filter hosts box, add these to the list:
Code:

66.*.*.*
68.*.*.*
38.*.*.*

-Click OK

You can now search and you will have less T3 or Higher in your results. When I search now, I only get about 1 or 2 in my list.

* Filtering these hosts will give you less results but also a less chance of downloading corrupt files *

I found it under Preferences. go to the far left menu,Limewire, and click on Preferences. There will be a list. Click on View the Pop UPs, and then click the box that says restore defaults.

I did waht DeaDly suggested but I now get NO RESULTS for any of my searches.

What in the name of God is going on here...?

I'm also pleased to note that Limewire admins are taking such an interest in their unhappy users...

lol This is a forum. We don't work for LW, neither do we get paid. But yes, we like to help people who have problems with using LW. It always helps however if you can provide details about your set up etc.

LW itself has no control over what files users put up for offer or choose to dwnld. This affects the entire Gnutella Network, not just LW but any other p2p app that uses the Gnutella network. Here's some background info.: Quality of Content on the Network & also Fake movies & why So this gives you an idea about how business scam the network & how some other organisations try to fight against p2p (such as the RIAA) who load up corrupt files for the most popular sought after to try to dampen people's enthusiasm for dwnlding music, etc.

Lots of people do not title their files properly. For that reason, if you vary your searches you can often find the files (or other sources of the files) that you're after.

Also see Corrupt mp3’s: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=28801
about detecting which files are corrupt. Check the file's bit-rate v's size to see which ones look correct. If you see some that are the same bit-rate but different size then one of them will be corrupt & the other not. It's at times like these when you'e wanting to dwnld those popular files that dial up modem users can be very handy to have around. Backed up with multiple users/sources you can often still get them at reasonable speeds.

I click CTRL + A to select all available songs for download and click on download, and every single one of them EVERY SINGLE ONE is corrupt.

Every single one of them is T3 or Higher. I've done what's suggested here and nothing works.

I've uninstalled and deleted the limewire folder and reinstalled several times but the settings must be stored elsewhere. I could not find the option to change corrupt file settings either. Where do I go / what do I do to modify this setting?

Comrade Wasabi: Try something that's not top 10 selling type of music. Even try a very old song just for experiment's sake.

It sounds to me as though you do very limited types of searches. Try doing General searches. Just type in the title or artist or and artist - title. you should get more results!

baker992964: Read this thread carefully & make a note of all links & suggestions.

Hm... If those T3 connections are RIAA spoof files, is it possible to beat them at their own game by downloading more than they can afford? I mean, hell, they have to pay bandwidth costs too, wethere they are the RIAA or not. So maybe we can stage a "**** Over The RIAA" week. Find a T3 peer that has a lot of bad files and seems to be RIAA, and download the crap out of it.

Just a thought. IF this is possible, I wouldn't mind setting up a website or something to organize it. But then again, would be kinda hard.
