CODEC is short for compressor/decompressor, a codec is any technology for compressing and decompressing data. Codecs can be implemented in software, hardware, or a combination of both. Some popular codecs for computer video include MPEG, Indeo and Cinepak.
Your WMP probably doesn't have the correct codecs to play the videos you're tryng to play. Installing more codecs will hopefully overcome that problem. The reason I suggested VLC is that it has in-built codecs into the program istelf. It's not the prettiest app but it does that job. |
