No, mine is selected to Show All Speeds. It's really amazing how 200 or more T3's only, appear within 3 - 5 seconds, flowing down the screen! Normal searching, when modem, cable, T1 and T3 etc. show up, it takes at least 30 seconds, and is more erratic - not a flow. So that seems a bit shonky/weird! It would be great to turn off all T1s and T3s, I reckon. I only want to see modem and cable. Anyway, it's still a great program :D |
I hope you realize that some users do tend to lie about their connection. ;) modem users make me cringe lol. Thank god for cable speeds. heh. :D when I want to do a rare song search I resort to my trusty bearshare lite, I seem to get better search results than in LW. good luck. |
.ogg files I use .ogg files in preferance to mp3. I've done a lot of listenieng with my big Carver system and speakers and have come to the conclusion that .ogg is better than mp3 files (when comparing at the same bit rate). The only thing is that if you use portible players, you would need to dump iPod and go to iRiver (or something). I rip CDs using cDex (free) and it comes with some codecs including Ogg Vorbus (.ogg). Generally I am happy with bit rates of 160 or greater. I have also downloaded 2 variations of the ACC codec and quite like it too. It is the new mp3 replacement and iPod can see it. Some ACC codecs can come preset to 15K max frequency and others you can change. Hope this is helpful. Finally, I wish more people used .ogg. |
iTunes by nature does not support ogg vorbis. I had to get a 3rd party iTunes plug-in to play & auto-import ogg files on a mac. But now with iTunes 6, it sees them & locates them in the video playlist. lol :D * Ogg is good at the higher bit-rates but in my own personal experience at ripping using ogg, I don't recommend joined stereo & low bitrates or lower sample rate. It's very telling on ogg! BTW you can filter out spam results using the keyword filter -> wma, wmv, jpg, zip & exe which will take out the majority if not all. 1. autogenerated mp3 spam results 2. See Arrange search results by size (click on link) 3. WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! 4. Direct instructions to eliminate porn from results |
Thank you for your help. It was fantastic. I've downloaded Spybot. But haven't downloaded Peerguardian... as it looks like it is not finishied being developed yet. I'm not good enough if anything goes wrong... Thanks again, Rodney. |
Oh you're a local, don't worry ... peerguardian has been around for a while but they had problems with someone who tried to take over their finances. They temporarily relocated but I believe now they've now gone back to the original server. http://phoenixlabs.org/ It helps to block out known organisations that want to spy on you & more. (Pity the OSX version is independent & doesn't totally support the earlier osx versions) :( I would also recommend: ad-ware (FREE) BTW make sure you got spybot from the right place; see Spybot - Search & Destroy (FREE) (p2p friendly! Whereas some similar programs think p2p programs have spyware. duh! ) |
