I'm having the same exact problem as this guy. I tried all of the suggested fixes. Also, LW keeps downloading files even when "Disconnected." |
Like I said in my first post, none of Lord of the Rings' suggestions helped. |
Ok I also havin a problem with downladin stuff, When I download something off limewire its really slow and I mean slowwwwwwwwww. The maximum speed it has reached wen dowloadin somethin is 6kb/s and thats the best it has reached, most the time it struggles to get 1kb/s. |
I have cable internet from Charter. I've done a few speed tests and I download at +1mb/s. I'm using a wireless router. I have Norton Antivirus and I believe that has a firewall. I was downloading at a fast speed before all of this happened. There haven't been any hardware changes and there are no software changes that I know of between the time I was downloading fast & right now. |
Same here, Ross. I have Charter as well, and was downloading very quickly before I upgraded to Limewire 4.10. |
Yes, I've come across quite a few Charter users with the same problem. I had a suspicion but thanks to Only A Hobo's homework, that puts it into more context. Don't think they won't shape your p2p bandwidth if they have it in their conditions. If they're running short of bandwidth then the isp will do what's necessary. This is becoming common in many continents where the isps have more customers than they can handle bandwidth wise. At least they can handle them if they "only" use the service for browsing, but not for games or p2p, etc. It's common to hear on games forums of people being shaped so they can't get the speed they're paying for. The same applies to p2p. |
