Default downloading video clips

Can anyone help.I can only watch mpg video files,but not mov asx files etc.
Is there a way I can remedy this?

Yes there is, using a different media player. Try the free VLC player, which comes with built-in codecs and can play almost all files without problems.

Question Can't see video

I downloaded an .avi, which I normally have no trouble viewing, but I can only hear audio, and not see video. Any idea why?

Same problem as above Eliana, it's a codecs issue. Try my suggested free media player; it's really very good. Though I've six different media players installed on my system, that one I actually use always as my first choice......

I'll try that. Thanks. But can you tell me why other .avi files play ok? I mean, I don't know the technical stuff, and I'm curious.

Not every avi file has been encoded with the same codecs.
