There are plenty of free codecs available. Just google for them.

hey

i have the exact same problem. when i download most of my songs i preview them and all i hear is a blurry noise like you said like e. what u hear on a tv. ive had no problems like this yet but today i seems every song i download wont work. i tried the default player tip but it opened up itunes still playing the same noise. im really stressing about this lol and i need your help! please reply back. im just glad somone else has this problem. even though you fixed it. lol thanks

Do other files you've already d/loaded play ok? If they do, I would think you've d/loaded some bad/corrupt files. Keep trying, try at different times of the day when your likely to connect to different hosts.

i've tried throughout the whole day and ive since downloaded 3 correct sounding ones out of 26. are you sure there could be so many corrupt files on one search page?

There are a lot of fake files out there. Though it could be a codec problem. Try using VLC media player, it has the codecs built in and is very reliable. If the files will play ok in it then you know it was codecs. If not then the files are probably bad.
