Unhappy It's a shame .... :-((can't seem to download)

Limewire was the best file sharing program I ever used, and I've been on the Internet since 1986 at 300k baud with a Tandy 1000-EX.

But now Limewire file sharing is being blocked, I assume by the RIAA. Everything was working fine until the first week in August 2007 and then the blocking started. I upgraded my Limewire program with no better results. Then I completely uninstalled the program and went back to an older version.

Nothing downloads any more. All I get is "Qued .... Connecting .... 100+ Hosts .... Need more resources."

I guess that Limewire has gone the way of so many other file sharing systems, it's been neutralized and serves no more purpose.

It's a sad day, but after 5 weeks of repeated attempts with different versions and different download requests there's no point in keeping the program on my computer.

My BIG problem is that I just don't know what to try now. ..... uTorrent?

So disappointed, but thanks for the 3 wonderful years of service!

I'll look for your post and help if I can Scotty. But isn't there a staff here? I can't even help myself at this point since Limewire no longer works. I'm just planning on looking for something else now.

Later.

7. Home, wired.
8. Limewire 4.12.11 and LW 4.14.8 (re-installed both), Sun Java 6.0 (Update 2)

Thumbs up It's a shame .... ALL FIXED! :-)

Hey!

Sorry to have been a bother, but I seem to have fixed my Limewire downloading problem.

As I said before, I uninstalled and reinstalled Limewire twice, using the old version and the new version, but there must have been a corrupted Limewire file left on my computer.

This time I wiped my registry (regedit) after uninstalling and installed the new version 4.14.8 fresh, as in a brand new installation.

In the past I have always updated by over-writing the old version with the new version, but this time something must have happened which corrupted one of Limewire's files. Unfortunately I can't figure out which file.

Although I've never encountered this problem in 3 years as a user, I'm probably going to download each new version and do a clean install each time now, rather than doing an automatic update/overwrite of each version.

I can't believe that I waited a month before I decided to take any action. LOL. Talk about LAZY!

Thank you for trying to assist!

I'm so happy that I have my Limewire back in operation!

It sounds like you have fake Ultrapeers, which in return will leed you to fake files and such....

Try going to your Connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it...
Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more...
(try to take note of the hosts IP numbers if the same ones keep re-appearing add them to your host filter...)

Tools > Options > Filters and select the Host Filter and add these IP's into it and select apply...

Another thing if you are using limewire 4.13 and later you can apply this hostile list...
The TechNutopia Fullsize Hostiles List for BearShare and LimeWire

Also do you use PeerGuardian at all....
If not install it and turn it on before you start limewire up...
Peerguardian __(FREE)

Another thing I did notice is that you use Norton Internet security 2007...
Have a look through these instructions and just check that everything is configured correctly to allow Limewire, you never know maybe a update could have sent things a little haywire....

Thanks Wondering Why! I'm going to take your advice and apply the "Hostile List" while adding "Peer Guardian." I never tried the Host Filter before but I'll start to use it now. I did get an odd little message 6 weeks ago after downloading something, but the note disappeared so quickly that I couldn't see what was said.

I see MANY differences in this newer version of Limewire and my old version wasn't that old. LOL.
