Default cannot download limewire

I redid my computer about a month ago and have been trying to reinstall limewire ever since, with no success. I keep getting this message: "The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete. This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus. You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy. It may be possiable to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch (NOT RECOMMENDED)".
I read on another site that this is a result of a glitch with Windows 98, XP and Vista. I am using Windows XP Media Centre Edition, with a broadband internet connection, and Windows firewall. My Windows updates are up-to-date. I am using AVG antispyware and AVG antivirus. Both are up-to-date and no viruses have been detected. Some spyware has been detected. I also ran Trendmicro's online "housecall" virus scan two days ago. Nothing was detected.
I am connecting to the internet from a dormitory room. My ISP is an educational bureau. My connection speed is 100 Mbps. I do not know how much RAM I have on my computer, but my computer is one year old.
I only want the "basic" limewire. I really miss it! Thanks for your suggestions.

Are you using the online installer? The online installation can sometimes have corruption problems Try it this way:

First of all, install Java. Download the JRE offline installer & remove any other Java versions installed (via Add/Remove Programs) before you install the latest Java.
Java SE Downloads

After Java's installed, install LW. When you click to download the LW installer, cancel the dialog box which pops up...now use the option to download the offline installer.
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

If you still have problems with the install, use a different browser to download.

If you still can't install, use the 'other' installer.
