Default ummm..a lil help please?

i got pro 2 weeks ago and it just started doin' really screwy things the past 3 days.

1)when i tried to load it the connection was turbo charged but seemed frozen .then it said it couldnt retrieve my old downloads

2)next time i clicked restore it said that it had a fatal error.so i removed that version and installed again.and started my searches all over

3)then all the ones that were downloading kept coming up as either:disc error, aborted,or corrupt file.wtf?

4)now,all of my searches that were pending have dissappeared.i see them in the incomplete files but cant seem to get them back to downloading again.

ive searched through the forums to try and solve this myself but cant seem to find a matching topic.and i do have vista but not mcaffee.any thoughts as to what the heck is going on?ghosts in the machine?

Edit ... missed you saying you had VISTA.
Things to try:
1. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.)
If using VISTA then see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...der-vista.html Make sure you make a note of important option settings before you remove your preferences settings! And after re-opening LW (not yet), make sure option to keep incompletes is larger than 7 days ... I choose 9999. And be sure save location is where old one was. But before you make those changes to LW settings, do step 2 below after deleting LW prefs folder.

2. (a) Remove all your Java versions (b) & download and install the OFFLINE installer version (online installations are commonly corrupted.) Download Java software from Sun Microsystems

3. After both of above, open up LW, go to Library window, select incomplete folder, select all the incomplete files and press the Resume button. That will force all back into Download window. Though they will show zero % initially, once started downloading will show previous downloaded %.

If you got rid of your Java your going to need to re download it.It is one of the main programs for Lime Wire. You can get a new Java At Java.com.

Using 2 Firewalls is probably causing the Problem. Turn off the Windows Firewall and Give Limewire Full access through the Norton Firewall.

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...y-connect.html Try Disabling all options under Performance, then connecting manually.
