I tried sorting it out, it hasn't helped onebit.

btw i think this problem consists further then Limewire, i tried using Bearshare, some other p2p software (forgot name) and then BitComet to try torrents, all of them wont allow me to download at all.

another thing to note, if i try to download anything (such as Avast) i cannot download any faster then 40kb/sec.. usually between 6-40.

i was on the phone today with AOL, they put me through to www.BTOpenworld.com/speedtest and i could download from that at a typical 120kb/sec (which my connection should).

i also downloaded and ran spybot today, to remove any spyware, there wasn't much and it didnt help.

my 2 problems, to clarify:
- normal downloads capped at 40kb/sec (outside of using BitComet, which works perfectly).
- no torrents or downloads will download at all, on multiple programs.

Sounds to me like your ISP have something to do with this, I know AOL can be known for shaping connection speeds....Hence your speed being fine when they sent you to that site for the test...

Here are a few threads about AOL....

And this one might explain the slow download speed when you tried to download another anti-virus app....AOL want you to use their security..

i talked with AOL and, so i was told, is although they dont support using p2p software, they do not disable using it. I have been with AOL for like 4 years or so, and have always been using p2p, be it Kazaa, Morpheus or Limewire.
