Xolox

I decided to search the forums for info on Xolox since I couldn't find it on the web. Since everyone says to find a newer client, I think I'll pass on checking it out. I was just curious as to why so many people liked it. Too bad it's not an option any more.

Hey, Iamnacho, thanks for the offer to e-mail the version you have, but I'll move on to something newer.

because some programs are not supported anymore like gnotella and xolox. you should think of that

There is still many people using those clients. Sadly I'm not included among them any more, using PEERanha right now and other non-gnutella p2p programs.

Gnotella is still the best! even after 4 months of no development

Gnotella I believe still is the best client.. Won't someone develop something similar?

Perhaps you should choose a client which is similar to it and make some suggestions!

Morgwen

Hi, Morgwen... Sorry if you are not happy with Shareaza being added late to the list....
Please remove it if you do not like it being included.

Gnotella is still the best! even after 4 months of no development

Morgwen,
I Wish someone could let me know what is similar to Gnotella. So far, I've tested out Bearshare, Limewire, Gnucleus and to my many are similar to Gnotella, however none have all of the features of Gnotella and the ease of use which Gnotella has. Does anyone know where Shaun Sidwall, the developer of Gnotella, went to? I'd be interesed to find out where he went. From the features, Gnucleus comes close and I have made suggestions, only time can tell. One of the things I would like to see is the ability to control the amount of times another Gnutella client is able to ping you for your file. I have found that Gnuecleus has a nasty habbit of trying to ping you every 10 seconds by some users. (I think this is putting a load on the network which is unecessary) Every 60 seconds should be fine for the all of us.

Patience is a virtue and is well received.
My thoughts,
Bob.

I like the interface and features of limewire alot (2.3.3 or later versions) but it's slow as dirt, probably because it's in java. Are any of the other clients close to it?

I agree completely. I miss Gnotella a lot. I haven't uninstalled it yet though.

Why is there any reason to stop using a client just because it's "discontinued"?

bobwonderful April 9th, 2002 05:23 AM

We gnotella users, haven't abandoned gnotella yet... Still using it and until something better appears, will continue to use it.
