new limwire keeps crashing

These new limewire versions 4.10.9 and the previous one just keep quiting on me. Ive never had this problem on older versions.Maybe its my system cant handle the newer ones. I have mac 10.3.9 and I updated the java to 1.4.2 the latest version for my system. I dumped my limewire preferences folder as suggested by a previous post and the virtual memory for limewire seem to be around 450mb. I presume you cant change the real memory for limewire in mac os x as you could in os 9? It could be that my computer is just too old to handle the new ones, Im using a G3 500 Se iMac with 640mb ram. The hard disk seems to be making a lot more "spinning and grinding" noises when i have this new limewire open as if it cant cope with this application. Ive been looking on this site for the prevous versions on limewire but i cant seem to find them any clues about this would be great as at the moment this once great program doesnt work no good no more.

Try turning off the filter settings (that's the stuff that changed with the recent versions) and see if that helps.

How do i do that it doesnt look like you can turn them off

There isn't a "turn off" checkbox in the LW Preferences->Filters->Junk settings, so just "forget training data", set sensitivity to low, and the radio button to "display junk in place"

I've been having the same problem and thought I'd post the crash report here for you guys. I tried resetting the filters as above, and so far it hasn't crashed on me.

Unfortunately, it seems that the crash report is longer than the allowed max post. If anyone has an email I can send this too, if it would help, I would me happy too.

reports can be mailed to the automated bugs@limewire.com (there might be an automated response, but don't expect a follow-up reply).
You can also see/search the automated reports at http://bugreports.limewire.com/bugs/home.jsp when it isn't too busy.

With 1000's of reports, you can see why there won't be a personal response ;)

I just got a "no such address" error at that address.

Any other suggestions?

thanks for the info: I'd heard that there were some problems with that server, so maybe is is down ATM, or else deprecated.

I'm not sure where else to send the report, but the beta forum has info about sending "stack traces."

During the day (Eastern Standard Time), "direct interaction with the LimeWire community is frequently possible at the #limewire IRC channel on the irc.freenode.net server" as stated on http://www.limewire.org/

Yea, I can't get irc to work on my computer (I don't think it likes me) but I'll try the email again later.

I tried disabling the filters as suggested, and it's still crashing. Looks like that had no effect.
