I have tried many a tweak and hint and I'm going nuts. All pointers, especially as to the sort of speeds I should expect with my set up, very gratefully received. Thanks in advance | I had the exact same problems. Some of the greates improvements for me were:
1) Going back to version 4.9.37 - after this version there is a very good chance for a Java/QuickTime 7.0.4 conflict that slows you down.
2) Reset modem about 5 minutes after you start LW (check thread 'Need for speed')
3) Do not download more than 10-15 files at once, if you have some awaiting sources, better to get rid of them and search for them again later, after you finished downloading your other files. Don't let your list get long.
4) Keep your library (or incomplete) list of files to a low (I keep mine at 35-45 max).
After these I am getting a FULL bandwith load speed. I too was at about 10-20 kbps and the above helped me to get back to full speed.  |
