I'm not sure which sticky thread you saw, but try the other fixes in this thread: If LW 4 Will Not Connect

That info's mainly aimed at Windows users, so you'll see 'tools > options' referred to, to get to LW's options. Use Command (apple key) & comma, (⌘-,) for the Mac
