hmmmm. I don't know what you are talking about (# .lax ???? ). One thing is sure java for mac os is very old, buggy (still at 1.1.8) and underperforming. Get os x if you can: it works much better for everything (that includes java -java 1.4.2 is included in Panther 10.3-).
Of course the claim faster than Kazaa is not absolute (it is impossible that it is true in all cases). This is called marketing, and all marketing has to be taken with a BIG grain of salt. However, I think that gnutella now performs faster than kazaa for mp3s.
