I have a big problem here. Everytime I run limewire, my computer winds up freezing up. I have run all my anti-virus/spyware/malware software, but nothing seems to help it. I have tried completely reinstalling everything, but it still does it. What do I do??

alright... ive officially tried to do the stuff thats posted on here, I had limewire 5 but it didnt connect even after i had deleted all the fire walls, etc. Now ive deleted 5 and have 4, and even though ive changed the settings to supposedly let down the firewalls, it still has the globe at the bottom with the brick wall in front of it. Pls help!

Default Thank you!

After I followed Grandpa's (Easy to Follow) instructions it started up like nothing was ever wrong. Thank you very much!

Then click apply to folders. (Attachment #2)

Once that is done the AppData file will show up click on it then choose Roaming. In the window that shows up right click on the LimeWire file and delete it. ( Attachment #3)
Finally a cure, it fixed it right up. Thx!

are you looking for the Preference folder if so:-

PREFERENCE FOLDER FOR XP @ VISTA

Which OS are you using? For XP the prefs folder is in
C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\LimeWire

(or)
c:\documents and settings\username\limewire
Application Data's hidden by default, so you'll need to enable viewing of hidden files & folders to be able to see it
(control panel > folder options > view > check the radio button to show hidden files & folders > apply > ok).

Vista users look here
C:\Users\your \\username\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire
See the link below for how to show hidden files & folders & find the prefs folder in

LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

Hello,

What I did was what grandpa said in his posts and it finally worked. I worked on it off and on for two months before I got lime wire to work. But it has been well worth it. In the help section of windows look up hidden folder and it will talk you through how to find them. I had to deleate any folder that said limewire on it. There was only one in my case. Good luck.

Know this thread is a bit old now but this isn't working for me and it's good to know how to delete preferences.

Just FYI
OS: Vista
LIMEWIRE VERSION: 5

My current problem is with it freezing and obviously this is one of the first suggested solutions.

I've followed all instructions, made hidden files viewable (and I know it's worked cos I can view other hidden files), gone to appdata/roaming/limewire.
When I get there though there is no preference folder.
I have these folders:
.AppSpecialShare
browser
certificate
mozilla-profile
promotion
themes
xml

I then have just a bunch of other files. Are these the ones I delete perhaps? A few of them are Cache files I've seen. If you need info of what files are there let me know but I'm not gonna type it up unless you need it cos it's quite long .

Thanks very much, hopefully I can get some help on this.
