Unhappy So confused..Limewire Pro and Vista. Help!! (LW won't connect)

Ok guys I'm sorry because I know you have explained this problem to others but I'm just not understanding. I have a new computer that I got yesterday and it has vista on it that has already took place on my bad side. I hate it. I have been trying to dowload Limewire Pro and after 5 hrs I just now got it. The wizard would not come up to install the program. Now after getting it installed I am getting the message that other people are getting that reads: Error - You machine does not appear to have an active internet connection or a fire wall is blocking limewire from accessing the internet. Limewire will automatically keep trying to connect you unless you select disconnect from the file menu. Ok I have McAfee. It came on my computer. But all of this firewall stuff is kind of new to me. Sad to say. Can someone be so kind to help me out. I am really confused on what I need to do.

It's McAfee that is more than likely your main concern....
There have been two solutions posted here on getting McAfee and limewire to work together...Have a look at them try them and see how you go...

As I said before McAfee would be one of your main concerns, if you still cant get a connection after attempting those could you post your details so I can see if there is anything else that may be blocking you...

Ok I still can't get it to work. Anything else I can do. I can't find a phone number to McAfee. All they want you to do is e-mail them. You can't get a real person on the phone anymore. I thought maybe they could help me out. Thank you for trying to help me. This is making me so mad. Anything else that might help please let me know. I hate for my computer not to be protected because before I didn't have anything. Just the security stuff from Yahoo. The McAfee program came wth my computer. If i uninstall McAfee then nothing will be protected.. right? I'm still so confused with all of this stuff. Thank you again.

It was only these parts of McAfee that needed to be uninstalled...
firewall, privacy service and spam killer...
You can always use the windows firewall..

Ummm I have no idea , I'm still running XP...In XP you would find the security section by going to Control Panel > Security Center...I'm just not sure if it's the same still in Vista....

Yep I just googled and it is the same this link has some interesting info about managing the security center...

Thank You sooo much for all of your help. I went in and deleted those three things and everything is working now. Now I will see if I can get the security stuff pulled up through Windows. To top it off ...now my printer is not working with Vista. HA HA. If its not one thing its another. Once again thanks.
