99.99% of the users do have a save button

Dear Raaf

I have just checked again page 16 of the "UserGuide" and it clearly shows 4 buttons in the Options facility, Restore Defaults, OK, Cancel and Apply. However, on my "Options" these buttons do not exist.

It is now clear that something has gone wrong with my installation of this program, or because I installed the "International" rather than the "American" version. Either way these four buttons do not appear on my LimeWire program.

Do you still suggest that I do a complete uninstall and reinstall of the international version or would you advise, after an uninstall,
that I installed the US version instead?

Also, is there a hidden start up switch or something that I may have missed to make these buttons visible?

Finally, my PC runs Windows XP (SP1 installed), Nortons Personal Firewall and Antivirus (both) 2003 versions, which are stable and work well together

Thanks in advance for your advice and help

Hello UK Bob,

I use the international version myself, and all buttons are present.
So I see no need to install the American version.
Hoever I would download the programme again from the Limewire site , and use that to do a clean install, becouse perhaps your installer might have become corupted.

Now I am not really Limewire savvy, so perhaps one of the regular trouble shooters can shine a light on what to eventually remove manually to make sure no bad settings are kept.

I'll try to draw their atention, becouse so far they have kept out of this thread.

Re-installing won't help if you don't see the buttons.

Try upgrading Java, at www.java.com .

Missing (Restore Defaults/OK/Cancel/Apply) Buttons in Options

Dear RaaF

Thanks for your advice, I will do a complete uninstall and clean reinstall when I get home from work.

It now seems obvious that something has gone wrong with my download and installation of LimeWire.

I'd just like to mention to sberlin that I believe I have the latest version of Java but I will check for updates before I reinstall LimeWire.

Once again (Raaf & sberlin), thanks for your help and advice.

Hi Bob --

If you can please go to Tools -> Options, Bug Reports, choose 'Example Bug Report' and paste the top of it here? (Just the first 5 lines are so.) Thanks.

Tools>Options

Dear sberlin

As suggested, I checked my Java plug-in and found I needed an incremental update, from V1.4.1 to V1.4.2. And, as suggested by Raaf, I did a complete uninstall and manually deleted any left over LimeWire folders.

I have moved a huge amount of non-program files to my external hard disk, cleaned up (by deleting all temp files) and defragged
my C:\ drive.

I have now reinstalled LimeWire and still there are no (Restore Defaults/OK/Cancel/Apply) buttons in the "Options" facility. And this facility does not save on exit.

I am now desparate for help.
