There's several steps you will need to go thru to solve your problem & get a healthy operation for LW.
1. With XP you will have XP's own firewall. Whether it's turned on or off it should be configured to allow both LW & Java (javaw) access: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml
Also your D-Link modem will have an internal type of firewall called NAT. you will need to forward a port to allow LW full (not just partial) access.
2. Make sure you set up a Static IP Address 1st!
3. Port Forwarding for the Dlink DSL-302G & use port 6346
4. Within LW force IP: Force IP instructions & sample image
If you do all these things 'correctly' you should find your problems have disappeared & a healthy connection. Refere back to the previous post to update Java & follow the optimisation hints. Good luck. |
