RD, I don't want to misslead you here. I have never had any major problems with much of anything, Limewire or Java. There were just a few little things that was not normal. I don't know if Java 1.6.2 is the answer for you but I was just saying that I updated. I've never had a problem with any versions of Java, Knock on Wood.

Yes that's the 1 I was referring to. 1.6 update 2. So is that the only Java version you find on your system?? If so and everyother version is uninstalled and your still having trouble, delete 1.6.2 and roll back to JRE 5.0 update 11. Also have you tried the fixes in Birdy's post # 7. She really knows what she's talking about.

Okay now I have J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11 and 12, and I also have Java 2 Runtime Environment SE v1.4.2_15 and Java 6 Update 2, and then I tried everything on Birdy's post and the closest thing I got to getting in to LW was Note number 3 which was to delete LW preferences and when I did that Limewires setup came up and so I did that and then after that Limewire does the same thing that as it did before.

You sneaky thing rdshokies posting in 2 threads..
You need to uninstall all of the other Java's you have and just run with the 5.11....This is why LW is having trouble starting up...

Xeon06, your thread's been hijacked...sorry about that

Don't know if you've read right through the thread, but did you ever try deleting your LW preferences folder or changing compatibililty (see post #2)?

Also, did you roll back your Java to find out whether the older update fixed the problem of LW not starting (I know you need the latest Java for other things)?

Preferences didnt do a thing, but rolling back Java did. Well at least I know how to do it, and I have to computers, one of them doesnt require latest Java so I'll just download my songs there. Thanks!
