![]() Just wondering because every time I open Lime wire, I get the loading screen and then the GUI appears for about .5 - 1 second, and then it crashes instantly (I realize there have been a few posts on this issue happening but I have found only 1 thread where the person posting says the problem was resolved and their solution did not work for me). Let me tell you my setup and what I've done so far: Windows XP sp2 Pentium D 830 3.0 Mhz CPU 2 GB pc6400 RAM Windows Firewall (with Limewire added to exception list) Symantec Antivirus 10.0.1.1000 35+ GB available on system drive (100+ GB available over all hard drives) Cable internet (6 MBPS down) from my house in US (Cox Communications) Limewire 4.14.8 Java 6 update 2 Limewire test page worked Have used Limewire for 2 years or so I have used Limewire with no problems until about a few weeks ago. All of a sudden this problem started. I have uninstalled and reinstalled LW SEVERAL times, when that didn't work I decided to uninstall ALL java versions I had installed (which was several versions, probably about 6-8). Once all of them were completely uninstalled, I installed java 6 update 2 from the java.com website. I have tried doing a search on my PC for all files and folders named Limewire, and then deleting them, I then proceeded to do the same in the registry. After removing all traces of Limewire files and folders both on my system drive (where it was installed), and in the registry, when I attempt to reinstall it (the install seems to lay down without any problems, btw), still the same behavior, the program loads, and then instantly when the GUI appears, the program crashes. I get no errors or warnings at any time, and nothing appears in ANY of the event logs. I am at an absolute loss on what could fix the problem outside of reinstalling Windows. Does ANYONE know how to fix this? |
