![]() I have a popup blocker in place and it has been blocking everything. That is until I downloaded Limewire. No sooner did I do that then I now have constant popups and popunders and it is driving me nuts!!! I went into my blocker and put the setting to the highest it would go and deleted all sites listed in there. But I am still getting those extremely irritating popups and unders. The fact that it suddenly started happening mere moments after I downloaded Limewire makes me believe something to do with Limeware is causing this somehow. Is there somewhere I can go in my Limeware settings to fix this annoying problem? |

![]() DB1, What site did you get Limewire from. Sounds like you might not have downloaded from the original LW site. Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent « |

![]() I just like to add something here: Most pop-up blockers work with (or put controls in) your browsers to block pop-ups and pop-unders. However, there are now clever malware writers that attack your defending application, crippling them, before planting it's malicious program. I would suggest the following, delete the bogus LW that you have, run your anti-virus app, your anti-spyware app and once your machine is clean then restart your machine at a control point before you installed LW. That way your machine will be virus and spyware free and working without the affects of the malware. UK Bob |

![]() Thanks for the info, the site I downloaded from was a link someone gave me. When I click on the link, a page comes up that looks identical to the one you suggested. The only difference I see is in the url. The url that I downloaded from was: Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent « Whereas the link you gave me is: Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent « I take it these are not the same site? EDIT: I put the urls in here, but I see now that I have submitted my reply that they have been altered and appear to be the same site. The only difference was the first link didn't have the www in it, whereas the second one did have the www. I assumed they were the same site, and by looking at them they appeared to be. That means that the official site somehow allowed the malware into my computer when I downloaded it. I didn't have this problem before I downloaded Limewire, and now that I have downloaded it, I do. My first instinct was to remove Limewire from my computer, and I am going to do that now. The suggestion from ukbobboy01 sounds like the way to go. ![]() That was my first thought. Delete it from my computer. A friend of mine has suggested a spyware I can download. I'll remove Limewire completely from my computer and start all over again. It appears that I did download from the official site. This is the link I downloaded from: Lime Wire » Official Website & Free Download, BitTorrent « Thank you both for your quick response and suggestions. They are much appreciated and I will definitely do as you suggest. I am just surprised that downloading from the official site has somehow allowed this to happen. I have downloaded from "many" sites over the years and this is the first one that this has happened on. Hmmm . . . ? |

![]() Probelm is still there. I deleted Limewire from my computer and then put spybot in there and cleaned out my computer. I have then reinstalled Limewire from the official site---just as I had the first time---and I am still have pop-unders. No where near as many as at first but they are still there and they weren't there before I downloaded Limewire. There is something happening during the download of Limewire that is letting this get into my computer. And the main page clearly comments on no Adware. I guess I'll just have to remove Limewire from my computer and do another cleaning and not use it again. It's a shame as Limewire seems to be quite good from what little I have used it but the ads are intolerable. |

![]() I plead with users NOT TO USE LIMEWiRE... Having been in the IT industry since the 80's it comes as no surprise that this provider does not perform security checks or indeed aware of the backdoor trojans and keystroke recorders plus adware with malicious programs that destroy your registry. If you have old download then fine but the new downloads from a reputable website still will not work. LIMEWiRE DAYS ARE OVER....steer clear unless of course you want to lose all you work and have to reformat your hard drive and spend hours reinstalling your applications and programs. Also, with links into the financial institutions their security experts have managed track a malicious trojan via limewire. I am not talking about exe files but mpegs / avi's! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ![]() |
