Which player are you using? WMP is a playlist player, so if they were originally added from a different location, the player might not be able to find the new locations. Do you have any program that does not use playlists? A player that plays songs directly will tell you if the files you have copied are ok. Open them directly.

Default The player I use..

..is WinAmp ver 5.093, the latest ver I believe. I try to stay away from WMP and even so, have not loaded later than ver 9 of that, due to DRM restrictions embedded in ver 10 and later. Even so, before the latest ver of LW that I'm using, I was able to play tunes in either WinAmp, WMP or the LW embedded player, AFTER MOVING them to a new folder. Now, none of my players will play a tune after moving it. Only if I keep a copy of the tune in the F:\My Shared Folder, will it play in a different folder. After copying, I see all the file attributes in IDv2 and IDv3 in WinAmp, but if I MOVE a file, all attributes are gone and all that shows in my "Moved to" fiolder is filename and filesize. And I can't move them back.

T.I.A. 4 ur help.

hmm ... I still get the impression that it's a playlist issue. I know winamp also uses or can use playlists. Have you tried removing the listing from winamp of the song, then re-adding from the new location?

Also, does the new location have same user permissions to the one you were using on F drive? Check user permissions in both locations.
eg: one location might be set to your user account permissions, and the new location to another user who might be admin account only permissions. This can be changed via the control panels.

Default Cut down the tree, I'm Stumped.

I don't create playlists. I simply click on the song and it plays, Winamp is my default player. I am the only user of this PC, I have Admin privileges. I did not have this problem at all until I updated/upgraded to LW ver 4.16.6. I initially started with 4.14.1 and had no problem Moving files from any folder to any other folder and they'd play. I'm Copying or Moving from Folders on the same drive, as a general rule, until I need to sort them into alphabetical folders. Then I'll move them to another drive.

This lockout after moving has only begun with the last two upgrades. I have D/L'd LimeWireWin 4.16.7.1 but haven't installed it yet. Could be that will fix it. I used Control Panel A & D prgms to remove previous versions. When I D/L a file, I usually SAVE IT, then Run it from the saved location. Unfortunately, I've deleted the earlier versions of the previous editions of LW.

Thanks for your assistance.
Juan

Check the folder permissions of the folders you are having problems with.

Also check for viruses, etc. it sounds like your folder is locked or semi locked. ___ (a) Incomplete Download File won't delete at all (click on link). This link has many suggested utilities to use.
Getting access to locked files or folders: (b) How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP (click link)

Make sure LW is closed when you try to move files.

This could possibly be some kind of bug in the new versions, though this is the first I've heard of this problem, could possibly report it here LimeWire Beta Forums

Hi, Juan and LotR...

I seem to recall there having been some other posts alluding to this same problem post-update. I cannot remember any details right now but I'll have a search.
Thing is that I am sure I have seen this subject raised but not in such a cogent manner.
I mean, I have the impression that Juan is about 18.736 years past 'newbie status" (Min).
All the steps and reports he has made indicate to me another bug in LW.
Problems started only after the gobshˇte update more or less 'forced' on users... Some really bad 'threatening nature' popups.

And,
It ain't Winamp !

Default Gandalf and I both thank you...

It was the Ownership issue that was blocking the access. Once I turned off the default MS "Simple File Sharing" and followed the steps to "Take Ownership", although I was already logged on as Administrator, apparently this function became an issue with the newest version of LW. As a user of LW Pro, I was able to send LW Tech support the question, too, after exploring the forums. I haven't gotten an answer back from them, yet, but I will tell them you deserve kudos for unravelling the mystery.

I will have to do some further research to make sure that I have the same permissions set on all folders, using the "Apply To All folders" option in "View".

Lords usually don't need a reward, but if it's in my collection of a terabyte of tunes, it's yours. Send PM. TYVM.
