Limewire making my computer go blank ?

I'm not sure if the problem is limewire, or windows XP.

I've downloaded limewire twice now and every time I try to start it up the computer screen goes blank and then about 3 seconds later comes back up white, and then all the icons and the background come back, but everything is sort of a blurry pastel shade and then after about a minute everything is back to normal, but limewire wont open. I havent got a clue whats wrong, or how to search for technical help.

I hope someone can help me :}
