LimeWire won't run

Had LW on computer went to use is only got info page. (connection, folders, etc.) Uninstalled LW and reinstalled, samething. Tried to open under operator and it said there was not enough permission to create file/folder. and to check settings. LW then closes. I am running Windows XP and have Norton Anti Virus. It ran quite well two days ago now???? Can someone help!!!!!

Actual message "LW could not create Temp. preferences folders"

Delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See this thread for more info (it's a thread about connection problems, but has a big section with instructions for how to delete the prefs folder): If LW Will Not Connect
:)

Don't know what to say?

I tried to delete the preference folders as you suggested but to no avail. I then uninstalled LW did a regestery clean up and reinstalled. Still won't work so did the steps again and the only thing I can get to come up is the LW Setup Wizard? LW starts and then just the wizard.....I'm lost:blink:

That's ok - after deleting LW's prefs folder, you'll go through the setup wizard again. That's what's supposed to happen.

Go right through the setup wizard (same as you did when you first installed LW)... after you've gone through the setup, start LW - do you still see the error?

Thanks again but here's what happens. Wizzard comes up click next to misc. settings no place to go to from there. Close off screen tried LW again same screen appears and same message???

Ok, go through the wizard again & when you get to misc settings, where you can't go any further - click on the bottom of the setup wizard box & drag it downwards. Now you should see the 'back' & 'next' buttons:)

If dragging the box doesn't bring up the buttons, try the tips here: setup freezes

If you're getting crappy searches (this is a problem for a lot of people right now), click on LW's Connections tab (if you don't see a Connections tab, click on View > Show/Hide > tick Connections).

You'll see the hosts (ultrapeers) that you're connected to... right click on a host > remove. You can do that for all ultrapeers that you're connected to - they'll be replaced by new UPs. Does this help at all?

If results are reeeally sparse, try either deleting LW's preferences folder or deleting/replacing your gnutella.net file. There's info here (it's a connection probs thread but still has the info you need): If LW Will Not Connect

If your search results are full of spam, try this hostiles list - it might cut down on the amount of spam that you see: The TechNutopia Fullsize Hostiles List for BearShare and LimeWire
