Default Moved files from Limewire shared folder - now cannot play/delete them - please help

Hi,

im using Limewire version 4.18.8 and windows xp.

I donwloaded some music and then wanted to add it to my itunes. Before i did this, i copied the files from the limewire shared folder onto a folder on my desktop (dont know why i did this but i am regretting it now - at least i think this is the cause of the problem). Now i cant play the files, add them to itunes or even delete them. I get the following error messages:

When trying to add to itunes:nothing happens

When trying to play (in windows media player):
C00D11D2: Cannot access the file

Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct.

When trying to delete: Cannot delete ...access is denied, make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use.

I tried downloading a song again and adding it directly from the limewire shared folder and this worked fine so i think my moving it was the problem but now i cantmove them back! please help, i dont want to have to downlaod everything again!

Have you tried opening the folder on your desktop & then copying the files within & pasting them into a different folder (rather than trying to move the whole folder from your desktop)?

Also, try shutting down LW completely (check in Task Manager, if a LW process is running then end the process) before trying to move any of the files from within that shared folder?

Check the thread below for more info about ways to add files to iTunes.

I get them transferred but about 1/2 won't play because of something called megsplitter?

Forget about the shared folder for now. In LW's library, click on Saved Files & then click Explore - your saved folder will open. Add to iTunes from this folder: How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes)

Do files add & play ok?

I'm not too sure what's going on. Try playing the files with VLC player, it's a free download & there's a link within this thread: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/tips-t...p3-fixers.html

If VLC won't play the files, maybe they're junk or have some kind of DRM associated with them. Check out the links below. Did you preview the files while you were downloading them? If you Google for the error code, you'll probably find more info.
Windows Media Player Cannot Access the File

Windows Media Player error code c00d11d2 - MSDN Forums

Try going into LW's tools > options > sharing. Click on Add, browse for the folder with the songs that won't play & add it for sharing. Restart LW. When you click on Shared Files in LW's library, do those songs show?

How many songs are there? What format are they & what file sizes?
