Are either of you fully connected (green bars in the bottom left corner)?
If you're not, LW won't be able to bring up search results properly. Do you see the firewall icon (brick wall)?

If you're not connected, read through this & make sure your firewall & router are configured. Do the port test & see if it works.
Connection problems? Check here first!

There are 2 green arrows in the bottom left corner, 1 pointing up the other pointing down. At the side of either arrow is 0 @ 0 KB/s.
There is also an icon with a picture of a brick wall. Does this mean that my firewall is preventing me from searching?

The green arrows show uploads & downloads. Look to the far left of them & you'll see the little connection bars. LW can't search if you're not connected to the network (being firewalled doesn't necessarily mean that you can't search)
