There's also File_Girl's version in the following post. The AVG no longer works in any version of LW, so no point in even having it. File_Girl removed it before the AV stopped working.

That's good to know. First page of thread should always be checked. Thanks
Too bad about AVG because it did save me from quite a few bad files.

Lord of the Rings February 23rd, 2011 04:08 PM

Windows OS means Windows Operating System. Example: Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, etc. etc. .. OS = Operating System .. so it is asking which one you are using. :)

umm you just did a quick reply by the looks lol. The difference is you simply type in what you wish to reply & press reply button. Advanced has more text formatting options. :)

I cant get File girls Limewire pirate to open It is a rar file. i Have the offline Java on my desktiop. Technically challenged also. Windows Vista Any help would be apppreciated?

Lord of the Rings February 24th, 2011 05:22 PM

Several utilities that will open RAR files. WinRar, 7-zip, & TugZip, among others. The latter two are 100% free. If choosing 7-zip, I guess the first listed on the download list will probably work ok for you. If not, try the 2nd. Depends whether your Vista system runs as 32 or 64 bit.

I would recommend you right-click the Java installer & choose Run As Administrator, before installing. Likewise for the LimeWire Pirate Edition installer. Doing this tends to solve some potential issues in either Vista or Windows 7. :)

Just tried to use file girl's OSX fix. I get an alert saying the install anywhere evaluation period has ended and won't continue. Anyone have another link to this file please or another fix for this problem of installation? Thank you.

Lord of the Rings March 13th, 2011 09:16 PM

Yes, she is working on a new installer presently but using different installer software. She may take a little time learning how to use the new installer maker software however.

In meantime, you can use fresh gnutella.net file from here: Gnutella.net. Click Request Download Ticket, then Download button on following page in exact same location of the page.
To replace your old gnutella.net file, see instructions here Replacing the gnutella.net file in the LW Preferences folder for Mac OSX :)
