I guess I'll uninstall it first.

Okay I went to 4share, registered and downloaded the free version. I see a bunch of file folders for limewire, but not sure what they are or what to do with them.

I did delete the file folder and reinstalled the Limewire suggested on here. Now what's the next step?

Great to hear you are now connected. :yahoo:

Unfortunately when you delete the LW prefs folder that is a side-effect.

To resurrect shares, you may need to go through your download folder and choose or select from your Music folder etc. Files or folders can be drag and dropped onto the share icon to share them. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/gettin...w-5-2-8-a.html

The LPE package now includes:
(1) instructions. (2) File_Girl's LimeWire-Fix2 installer which will prevent LW deleting your connection file if not used in 30 days. (3) Choices between security blocklist installers to block out the very worst spam and ddos hosts, these are optional installs but include a connection install within the installer. (4) LPE program installer.

Next step would be to install either of the security packages or else the LPE ConnectFix. The latter will be more up to date than the one provided with the LPE package.

On a side-note, the security blocklists were preliminary releases. I have updated them since and they have grown in size but will not re-release them until I downsize them slightly. LimeWire 5/LPE versions have much less memory ability than the prior LW 4 versions so I am trying to be careful in this regard. Light security and Medium security options, obviously the Light one will require less memory use.

Runte66e, I have used it when it was legal and pirate edition. Now it's just giving me trouble and I would go elsewhere, but I can't find anything that works as well as Limewire.

If I could get this up and running, I would a very happy Limer. :)
