Java 1.4

My LimeWire doesn't work with Java 1.4,
It just doesn't open, and it doesn't show errors.

Have you tried any other Java Applications with 1.4?

Have you uninstalled both Java and LimeWire and re-installed?

Are you able to see if javaw is in your task manager list?

etc.

1. IE, it works fine.
2. Yes.
3. Didn't check, and I'm using 1.3 now.

I'm using Windows Millenium, LimeWire 2.4.4

I had recently installed JRE 1.4, and since then Limewire has behaved strangely: when downloading files, the speed continually slows until it reaches 0KB/s. Additionally, if trying to do a search, and I hit the ENTER key, nothing happens. Only rebooting temporarily resolves the problem.

I have completely removed 1.4, and reinstalled 1.3.1_01, and Limewire is working better than ever - no more problems.

Worked for him/her :)

I installed Java 1.4, and THEN installed LimeWire. I didn't reinstall LimeWire.

I've running XP & Limewire (3 consecutive versions) and I just upped to Java 1.4 without a problem.

I would suggest the uninstall/reinstall idea.

:D :D

uninstall jre 1.3.x or make sure 1.4 is the system default.
usually limewire will use a locally installed jre and the newest version.

I tried that.

I formatted my hard-disk, and reinstalled windows (now I have Windows 98 Second Edition). Then I installed Java 1.4 and LimeWire.
The path to which LimeWire's shortcut points is:

"C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.0\bin\javaw.exe" -Xss64k -Xms4m -Xminf0.10 -Xmaxf0.25 -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -jar RunLime.jar

But it still doesn't work!
