Lord of the Rings has a distinguished reputation

1. Try going directly to the LW program folder & opening the program directly. If it opens then your shortcuts are corrupt & need recreating.
2. Try some of the tips here: Fixes for Limewire
3. See Fix for opening Limewire "Fatal Error Message" which is a little similar to point 2.

Tell us if either of these fixes your problem.
