Some more details would be helpful. :) Difficult to understand what you mean. And what version, what OS, etc. ;)

Try this technique: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/333278-post2.html

BTW do you have Alcohol installed? That can prevent LW opening. Also check which security softwares you have. Some spyware programs for example, think all p2p sharing programs are spyware & will prevent them opening, possibly even damaging them. You'd need to put LW on their safe list, depending on which ones you have.

I've heard AVG can also prevent LW opening.

If trying those things does not work. Set up a Test account. It's easy to do, easy to remove later. Then try running LW from there. At least that will narrow any problem down to your main account (most likely software conflict if that's the case.)

A couple of posts on the forums suggests Singnet might be blocking p2p sharing. One suggestion is to go to LW's menu bar, Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> SuperReallyAdvanced, Firewalls & change both connection & listening port to one between 49152 - 65535. Disconnect, then reconnect via file menu. Example image of this firewall page can be seen here: Manual port forward instructions & sample image

However, it's my guess that Singnet are using a special anti-p2p filter. As soon as it detects LW, it blocks it, thus the delay in time.

I have windows xp. I use PC tools antivirus with spybot, there is registry machanic running too-(just mentioning...as I don't know???). I used limewire years ago- ...and installed it last month on this laptop version 5.2.13. Working brilliantly until about 2 weeks ago ..it wouldn't connect ... said there was firewall but I ticked the exceptions etc... (Couldn't figure it out so cancelled it ... updated the java and reinstalled limewire again .... Now, I just see the intial starting with the 'sqeezing lemons' box briefly then nothing - the icon on the task tray - chase that; but disappears. Please advise - I'm really missing limewire.
Somehow I think I've posted this in the wrong place to - but can't figure out where to write either - guess I'm losing patience...sorry
