and there's another word for Host but I can't recall now cuz I'm too old !

Amazing how many variations there are on those... Hope you're going for Castellano !

btw- QTH Mallorca !

Those words have already been used by me as far as 70% (might be more) of translations come from Spain (Españoles básicamente) and I'm used to them too.

In some places, and I don't understand why, the word "servidor" (server) is used, but this is not our case I believe.

Wel, having lived in Ibiza for some time, (but I have also been in Andalucía and Madrid) you get the idea of how Languages work ;=)

I was only one time in Palma de Mallorca.... that was just a dream.... (I really miss it)

Cool!

Shall I already add the current version, or do you prefer to fix it up completely, first?

typp

Not yet Arne, I have already fixed all my typpos but I'm still revising everything, I dont like people to pick on me for a bad translation (which will be just fine).

Kind Regards

Luis

PS. In a few hours I'll post both version altogether

This is of course difficult to write easily. Thats why there is the tool native2ascii coming with the JDK.

I would suggest you two approaches. Either make your translation into a Lang_en_MX.utf8.properties file saved in UTF8 encoding and then run the native2ascii tool:
native2ascii -encoding UTF8 Lang_en_MX.utf8.properties Lang_en_MX.properties

Or use the Gettext PO format which also gives you the possibility to use a wide range of Gettext editors. With the tool prop2po and po2prop you can convert your files in either way.
toolkit:prop2po · Translate Toolkit & Pootle

Thanks a lot for the info GregorK

I still don't get very well your approaches but let me tell you some... I'll come back and re-edit this post to make comments on what your are suggesting me. Firstly I mus find out what you are saying... (I know about the "po" files but I've never used such a text editor... so firstly I'll get involved before saying nonsenses.

Kind Regards

EDIT: GregorK. As I promised.... Ok the files WERE converted to ISO-8859-15 and now I can see the accents... I use "gedit" and I did not know about this... but now they seem to work just fine

Now we only have to get the release done.

@Gregor: Could you write a short guide how to do a release and which tools are needed for that (and which kinds of machines)?

lucasuam May 4th, 2008 06:37 AM

@Arne

Sorry for being a pain in the butt...

When you said the spanish translation "is in", you meant to say it is available in the trunk? (for svn?)...

Will it be included in the binaries (Mac and Wni)? and if so.... how soon?

The reason why I ask u this is 'cause I'd like to post in Mandriva Spanish Forum a tinny howto for Phex and most probabily in some other distros.

Kind Regards

Luis

Hi.

I've already built Phex from source... I'm very happy to see the "build 103" :super: and it was built with no single issue... (that was wundervar)....

So my previous question is already answered as I suppose the next build for binaries will be the same (that's NOMB I kknow),

Ok. so I have answered my own question, however, thanks a lot and Kind Regards

:)

The next release will be out as soon as Gregor gets to a machine where he can start the release process.

The release notes are already written - wait! They now need an addition: "- GUI: Spanish and mexican localization added (thanks to Luis)."

Should we attribute it to you with your full name?

Best wishes,
Arne
