Spanish Language Available (Disponible en Castellano)

Hi Everyone

Well, I'm almost finished (probabily 10% to be done) but I can NOT get to try my new file...

This is what I've done so far:

1. DL'd the file to my $HOME/phex_3.2.0.102/lib/ext directory (I created the ext directory BTW)
2. Icreated a new file named "language.list" only containing "es_MX"
3. Translated the downloaded file and saved it as: "Lang_es_MX.properties
4. I don't get to see my language in the settings :bangh:... so there must be something wrong (or maybe the info is a little outdated ;=))

Hope you can give me some hints to try it out...

Kind Regards

Luis

PS. I've tried with the original file renaming it but there's no go :(

PS2: Maybe the exa mple in the wikki is for M$ Win tree structure?

Please try to move the ext directory to:
$HOME/phex_3.2.0.102/ext

This is very good news !

When it is completed and all is OK, then it would be a very good idea to go to HispaMP3 and update the info for Phex to inform people that it is now ¡ disponible en español !

:idea:
When I did that with Shareaza (the original one, about 287 years ago !) the Spanish language user base increased enormously.

btw... The version of Phex as listed at HispaMP3 is way out of date !
It's 2.08 or something !
:eek:

OKey Okey Okey......

I'll be right back ASA I have some news ;)..

BTW, I have some news.... The complete interfase has been translated:laugh_2:... However, I have some typos I must check and also I'm already trying to have the es_MX and es_ES at the same time.. I hope my spanish friends like it ;)

Some examples:

Quote:

es_MX--->-es_ES
Archivo = Fichero
Folder = Carpeta
Mouse = Ratón
Video = Vídeo
Host = Anfitrión
and some other I can't remember ;)

Cheers

Luis

PD: Por cierto.. fui radio aficionado

NOTE: I can't see the accents and letters like "ñ" "Ñ" only strange caracters.... will this be corrected when it is re-compiled?? (if it ever is :D)

Ok. Now it's finished:yahoo:

I need someone to test it thoroughly (like Úrsula and someone who has enough knowledge in spanish and its grammar.

IGrab the zip file attached (only es_MX) and test it thoroughly SVP.

I accept all kind of comments and remarks related to the translation so don't hesitate in bitching me ...:nono:

The es_ES file will be ready when I have seen there are not any kind of tppo or grammar mistakes.

Kind Regards

Luis

Cool!

Shall I already add the current version, or do you prefer to fix it up completely, first?

.properties files are supposed to be in ISO-8859-1 (Latin1) encoding. Non-latin characters need to be written in unicode escape character sequences, like \uXXXX.
This is of course difficult to write easily. Thats why there is the tool native2ascii coming with the JDK.

I would suggest you two approaches. Either make your translation into a Lang_en_MX.utf8.properties file saved in UTF8 encoding and then run the native2ascii tool:
native2ascii -encoding UTF8 Lang_en_MX.utf8.properties Lang_en_MX.properties

Or use the Gettext PO format which also gives you the possibility to use a wide range of Gettext editors. With the tool prop2po and po2prop you can convert your files in either way.
