still not working

downloaded vic and put it in my dock. The program opens fine, but doesn't do anything! Cursor races from start to end, quite uneventful. Did I install it correctly? I can watch video clips from cd (originating from a pc). Am I doomed to never see shared video? I am humble in asking anyone and everyone to please HELP!!!!!
